Albury Wodonga Health emergency departments offer an inclusive multidisciplinary environment where rural generalists and general practitioners work alongside emergency specialists to deliver quality driven emergency care.
With the increasing demands on hospital systems, we support and actively recruit to this unique model in order to train a sustainable and skilled regional workforce that can support our community well into the future.
Our Emergency Departments
Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is a major regional health service supporting a rapidly growing catchment of 250,000+ residents. AWH is Australia’s only cross-border health service, with an Emergency Department operating on two campuses. Whilst both departments manage critical patients, Albury receives major trauma, oncological and paediatric critical care; and Wodonga sub-specialises in women’s health. The intensive care unit based at Albury provides proactive outreach and support across both campuses.
With over 67,000 attendances per year and high acuity presentations, including 30% paediatrics, there are adequate opportunities to undertake procedures and complete your paediatric logbook.
Weekly protected teaching is conducted to foster a team environment, with practical and theoretical components, exam preparation and simulation training.
Surrounded by rolling green hills and minutes from the mighty Murray River and Lake Hume, the region offers a myriad of opportunities to engage with nature or indulge the palate. There are several well-known wineries, breweries and distilleries within a short drive to occupy an afternoon or weekend. Extensive hiking and mountain bike tracks weave through the countryside. Whilst winters are crisp and cold, they also bring the opportunity to ski the slopes of nearby Mt Hotham and Falls Creek.
