Emergency Medicine/Registrar/PHO
SIR CHARLES GAIRDNER HOSPITAL, HOSPITAL AVENUE, NEDLANDS WA, AUSTRALIA
AUD $130,145.00 to $174,823.00
Come and work in our Adult Tertiary ED in Western Australia. We are the home of 'Life in the fast lane', a world class centre for Ultrasound training and one of the largest Toxicology units in the country.
We're located half way between the city and the sea, on the edge of beautiful King's Park.
Our hospital is the state neurology and cancer centre and offers the only 24 hour hour clot retrieval stroke service in WA as well as all other services you'd expect from a large tertiary hospital.
You'd be joining a team of 25+ other registrars working on a 7 week cyclical roster with a maximum of 4 shifts every 7 days and large amounts of protected teaching time including dedicated simulation, Ultrasound and Toxicology training, primary and fellowship exam teaching programs on top of the regular 3 hours of general education every week. Registrars also get a full day of non-clinical time every 3.5 weeks.
There is a lot of senior help available at all times with 3-4 consultants on the floor till midnight most nights and one on call after that. You will also be ably assisted by a team of 3 Nurse Practitioners, 24 RMOs, 12 interns and an amazing bunch of nurses. Our night medical team consists of 3 registrars, 2 RMOs and 2 interns.
We have close ties with our ICU and anaesthetic departments for future potential rotations as well as having a fixed rotation of registrars into the brand new state children's hospital just across the road.
SCGH registrars also have the option to rotate through other accredited posts in a private metropolitan ED, a large district general ED (to get their paediatric log book), Royal Flying Doctors, the state hyperbaric unit and rural posts in Albany and Geraldton.
Please note salary range listed does not include penalty rates for out of hours and weekend work which typically add around 30% onto a full time registrars salary.
Please email peter.allely@health.wa.gov.au (Head of Dept) if you have any further questions.
