The Position & Health Service
A small, high quality health service is looking for a FACEM with a passion for regional medicine to live and work in a beautiful, seaside town down the south coast of NSW. Located only a few hours drive from Sydney city, and reknowned as a local tourist destination: this is a wonderful opportunity for a staff specialist looking to put down roots, and make a meaningful contribution to a growing health service and community.
The health service is split across two locations, located roughly 20 minutes apart from each other; with facilities asymmetrically split. The larger, 51-bed hub has access to:
- X-ray, Ultrasound, & CT;
- Gynaecology & Maternity;
- Sub-acute, and acute inpatient services; and,
While the smaller, 31-bed hospital has:
- Minor surgical services,
- Acute inpatient services; and,
- Pathology services.
Between them, the emergency departments see about 30,000 presentations over the course of a year, and each have capacity for 26 patients, and access to 4 close observation beds. There are opportunities for experience in retrieval medicine, and experience in this area is preferred.
The health service and hospitals are located in one of the most beautiful seaside locations on the Southern East Coast, and are within close proximity to the metropolitan hubs of Sydney and Canberra.
With a population of roughly 35,000 people, and covering an area of roughly 3,500km2, the locale is a quiet, temperate region with an abundance of greenery and secluded beaches. For those who love the outdoors, this is a fantastic opportunity to make your home in a gorgeous, family friendly area, and experience the benefits of an active, regional lifestlye.
In addition: the town itself is home to a variety of boutique eateries and cultural attractions developed entirely unique to the area. Successful candidates will be able to immerse themselves within an independent, close-knit community, and make themselves an integral part of the Southern NSW health network at large.
In order to be considered for the position, candidates must:
- Hold Specialist registration in Emergency Medicine with AHPRA
- Have significant experience in Emergency Medicine, with at least 2 of those years in an Australian ED
- Have access to 2 professional references, and an up-to-date CV.
